Get Involved

You can get involved in the project in a number of ways:

Volunteer

We are looking for volunteers to primarily carry out some oral histories but there will also be opportunities to become involved in other aspects of the project such as delivering workshops in the community. All volunteers will be offered oral history training and supported throughout their work on their project.

Oral History

If you lived or your family lived in the villages of Benquhat, Burnfoothill, Commondyke, Darnconner, Glenbuck or Lethanhill we would like to talk to you about life in these communities. We want to talk to women, men and children about living in the rows and also what it was like to move away.

Our focus is on life in the villages including but not limited to housework, social life, recreational clubs, schools, work and community events. If your relative grew up in the area and you remember their recollections of living in the villages, please also get in touch.

Community Groups

The project also can offer talks, workshops and oral history training to community groups in the East Ayrshire area.
